That's a really good start. Two guys stick out:

What's got you so high on DeAndre Smelter? Top 50 no problem. Top 10? That seems aggressive but I'm intrigued.

Jedd Gyorko is a guy I hope exceeds expectations, but he's pretty unanimously getting the utility inf tag right now. 21 might be a little hopeful?

Smelter is a personal favorite of mine. I got to see him pitch a lot when I was in San Diego for the week watching the AFLAC kids and he really impressed me. Taillon was the obvious number 1 pitcher, but after that I had a group of 5 RHPs who were in that next level.Cole, Allie, Smelter, Whitson, and Bedrosian.

Smelter is a great athlete, who hides the ball well. Love his size, and demeanor on the mound. He repeats his delivery well. Once he is comitted to just baseball, he will get even better.

And Gyorko?

I like what I've seen of Smelter but haven't seen anywhere near enough to weigh in. The guy I'm pimping is Covey. I like him as well or better than all the HS RHPs for 2010 with the exceptions of Taillon and Cole. If you were there for Aflac then you saw him in action, and that was a good viewing as he was in top form that day.

blackout,

All the players mentioned are high end prospects. I agree with you completely reagrding Covey. Also, another pitcher who really stood out at Aflac, but he doesn't seem to get mentioned much, is Kaleb Cowart. That kid has a very special arm and he has a lot of room to get bigger and stronger.

All these lists that keep popping up (for the most part) involve the same names we have been listing for a long time already. When I have some time we will show the number of these players on all the various lists that attended one single showcase event... The (Perfect Game National Showcase). That is pretty much all the high school kids listed and most of the college kids as well.

It would be interesting to see a list that someone made out before June of the PG National. That would show us something. BTW, that is exactly what we have to do, in order to invite players to the National. They are invited more than a full year before their draft year. And it always ends up being those same guys on every list! HMMMM!

This is not meant to discredit “Future Scout Sully’s” list, it’s a good list, but look at all lists that are out there and will be out there (including the one posted here earlier) and you will find a very common thread. A little jockeying around but the same names that PG has had listed for a very long time.

It would be even more apparent if we compared the lists to the draft projection lists we have released on pgcrosschecker.

Above list Shows 1 (ONE) player who had never attended a PG event or been ranked by PG. One other player had never attended a PG event, but was ranked by PG..

24 of the above 50 were selected as Aflac All Americans by PG. 80% of that list are players who had been invited to the PG National Showcase. That means we had to identify them before they played their junior year in high school.

48 of the 50 had played in multiple PG events. Every list out there will have somewhat the same exact story. We can prove it! We basically identify all the players long before the lists start to come out. Even the very last and most important list (The Draft) shows 80% of all players drafted have been ranked and have attended PG events. It’s actually been over 90% of all first round picks over the past 8 years.

Not sure what, if anything, all this means! People say they get information from all kinds of places, but truth is, everyone who does these things gets their information from us… one way or another, because if they didn't get it directly from us, the place they got it from, got it from us.

You guys are the best in the business at what you do. I try to get information from everywhere. I see these guys for myself when I can, and, like you guys do I make my rankings. All of the best players have gone to PG Showcases because they know what they are getting, a lot of exposure. Most rankings are similar at this point. It is still very early

I haven't seen your full rankings yet. I would love to see how they compare. This is what makes the draft fun for people, seeing all of the different lists and making your own analysis on them.

I definitely accord full respect to the work at PG. The only reason I've been following Covey (and Cowart as well, though he's currently more athletic than polished imo: Ethan Martin comes to mind) is because he was on your 2010 Top 10 list last year. You also had Taillon #1 before anyone else I read, so believe me, I have a lot of faith in you folks.

And yes, Sully's list definitely includes most of the usual suspects. As long as that's the case, the order is really a matter of specific insights or personal opinion/instinct, right? I'd love it if these forums were filled with great lists and discussions of them.
